Mechanism of Action

Fampridine increases the speed of nerve impulse transmission by blocking potassium channels in damaged nerves. It is primarily prescribed to improve walking in patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

Dosage Instructions
  • Should be taken orally as one 10 mg tablet twice daily (every 12 hours) with a glass of water, preferably on an empty stomach (one hour before or two hours after a meal).
  • The tablet should be swallowed whole and should not be broken or chewed.

  • History of severe allergic reaction to fampridine or any of the drug’s ingredients
  • Epilepsy or a history of seizures
  • Moderate to severe kidney impairment
  • Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)

  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Drug Interactions

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines including the following:

  • Fexinidazole
  • OCT2 Inhibitors (Cimetidine)
  • Tafenoquine
  • Vimseltinib
Side Effects

Side effects with incidence greater than 10% include:

  • Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)

If you take more Dalfyra than you should
Do not take this drug more often than you are told. This may raise the risk of seizures. Be sure you know how far apart to take your doses. If you take more Dalfyra than you should, talk to a doctor or seek emergency medical attention.

If you forget to take Dalfyra
If you forget to take a tablet, skip the missed dose and use your next dose at the regular time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.

Storage

Store at a temperature below 30°C. To protect from light and moisture, the medication should be kept in its original packaging until use.
